A creative photography adventure

After last year’s amazing success, Haron Haghuis and I have decided to join forces in providing you with a collaboration that will make 2020 the best year yet. Now we’re finally ready to share the exciting news.

We’d like to invite you to join us on an exclusive and intense 5-day dog photography retreat in the most breathtaking of locations – The Peak District. Nestled under the famous rocks of The Roaches between Buxton and Leek, we will explore together, laugh together, imagine and create together.

Situated in the most breathtaking of locations. Nestled under the famous rocks of The Roaches in the heart of England.

“Every turn seemed to reveal a perfectly composed landscape of trees, crags and velvet-mossed rocks, with no trace of the modern world in sight.” The Daily Telegraph

Roaches Hall was once the hunting abode of Sir Philip Brocklehurst. Sir Philip’s brother, Henry Courtney lived in the house and amassed a small zoo in the grounds including yaks, llamas, deer and wallabies. These later roamed freely over the Roaches before dying out in more recent years.

About us

Alice loder

Wanting to provide an alternative to the well known quirky, cute pet portrait. British artist, Alice Loder began her artistic journey, exploring classic portraits of canines in 2015. Alice enjoys combining her fine art painting experience, with her photography to create images that have a surreal, painterly feel.

Haron Haghuis

A Dutch portrait photographer with a love for dogs, a passion for art and an eye for creative and technical detail.

Haron’s experience in photography and post-processing allows him to bring his creative ideas to life by capturing a unique mood in every image.

Haron obviously cares very deeply about teaching people to find their own style and craft. He doesn’t just teach you how to do things his way, he helps you to understand and analyse the reasons behind why you’re taking the photo and what you personally want to achieve.

Alice is incredibly passionate about her craft and a very knowledgable and supportive mentor. She is a skilled photographer as well as a brilliant teacher – I learned a huge amount from her, both practical and theoretical. Her approach is very personal, with a focus on teaching her own techniques but also placing huge importance on the personal development of the student and what they want to achieve in their own style and work.

Josie Baughan

The Artisan Hound

Well what can I say. I attended Haron and Alice’s first UK workshop. Great teaching and a lot of lightbulb moments to be had.
I learnt a great deal over the weekend. Haron really knows how to deliver and keep the participant’s focused at all times, in the classroom and outside taking images.

Alice always gives her best and produces outstanding images. She has a great sense of what the participant is looking for and delivers. Alice is also a great educator of pet photography and is very knowledgable in her field.
